Ha! You thought wrong!
I know those of you who may actually read this thought for sure that I had slipped once again and stopped exercising. Well, for the most part that is true only to a certain extent. I certainly have not been exercising like I should but I have been doing something.
Since Greg returned home and with the holiday season upon us, it seems like I can barely take a deep breath let alone carve out an hour at the gym. I dedicated THIS week to doing just that though. I AM taking my hour at the gym no matter what, barring death, serious injury or an eyeball popped out.
To that end, even though I had other things that were just as pressing today, I did take the time to go swim. I did 12.5 laps (or 25...depends on how you count it) in the pool. There was a wicked wind when I came out, with wet hair, so I think I may bring a hair dryer with me tomorrow. I am not sure when I will get in tomorrow, I also am going to Nashville, have a Brownie meeting and am donating blood but I will do it somehow.

Conspiracy
It does seem like there has been a conspiracy this week to keep me away from the gym. I had a meeting on Monday morning, had to go to Nashville yesterday and this morning I had to take one of the kids to a dental appointment. If I can't get into the gym before 10:30 am, I just don't have the time to do anything and still make it back to get the little boy off his school bus at noon.
When the kids got home from school, I did round them up and the entire family went swimming. Dad played with the kids while I swam laps. I did lesiurely laps but I can certainly feel it. I did 25 laps. My legs are not feeling it so much as my trapezius muscles are. Those are muscles you don't really pay attention to until they are sore.
I did like the swimming though and plan to do more of it.

Veteran's Day Parade
I didn't make it to the gym but I did march in the Veteran's Day parade today. We marched with our Cub Scout Pack charter organization, the Marine Corps League.
It was a bit chilly but warmed up nicely when you got moving. I pushed Kierynn and Iain in the stroller along the route while the Scouts passed out little American flags. I think the route was about 3 miles long, at one point, I was jogging since we had lagged behind our float.
My legs were very sore after my jaunt up on the elliptical so I was glad for the short break before today.

Ouccchhhh!
After my success on the treadmill, I was feeling very confident. I did my 45 minutes and although my legs were a bit sore, I didn't feel too badly. Car trouble prevented me from coming in yesterday but I went today.
Miss Sure of Herself decided to take the leap and work on an elliptical today. I did 45 minutes on a treadmill, I felt that surely I could do the same on the elliptical. Now, stop laughing, those of you who have ever used one.
After less than 10 minutes on it (on the lowest setting possible going as slow as I could before it would pause), I was ready to submit to a filling with no pain medication. That machine is deceptive! It looks fun, it looks easy and let me tell you, it is not. I went 10 minutes and then I took a break. How embarassing to be sweating so much and barely able to stand when I got off.
I went to the weight area to do my various weights. I added another set since 2 sets was fairly easy. I also added weight on one of my machines. I can feel the third set making itself known.
Even though I had done 10 minutes and the weights, I decided to get back up on the elliptical since one was free.
I did another 10 minutes. This time, it was easier and I was able to go faster but it was still a tough work out. I saw a few ladies who had been up for over 30 minutes, I don't know how they did it without breaking a sweat. Within just 2 minutes on that, I am sweating like I am sitting in a sauna.
Ooohhh, my feet and legs are already stiff. I am soo gonna feel this tomorrow!

Treadmill
Much as I dislike treadmills, I have found it is easier to do it in the gym than in my kitchen. I think it is probably because there are so many distractions in the house and I can't ignore them. At the gym, I can just get up there, stare blankly into space, listen to my music and not worry about anything else.
I did 45 minutes on the treadmill today and then I went and did my weights. My shins are definately feeling it this evening even though I only walked, didn't even attempt to jog on the treadmill.
I do need to find my jogging CD player. The one I used today would skip in the most annoying fashion so I ended up holding it rather than setting it up on the control panel.

Still Here!
I realize I have not posted in about a week but that is not from lack of doing anything.
I have been doing my WATP DVDs at home and using weights in place of the stretchy band. This week has been horrendous and rather than make myself crazy trying to get to the gym as well, I skipped going this week.
Monday morning, I am headed back although right now, my feeling is that I will NOT go into Susan's class but do weights/treadmill instead.

Yikes!
Despite me not having blogged since last week, I have NOT stopped my program.
My friend who usually goes to class with me was not able to go this morning. I went by myself and did weights while waiting for the class to start.
The class is advertised as an all level step class, the instructor is supposed to do level I moves and the rest can do what they like if they feel it is too basic. I was fine for the 5 minute warm up and then all hell broke loose.
I don't know what the heck the instructor was doing but it was NOT even close to level I. I have been in this class before, with this instructor, so it was a total shock to me when she started this. She was doing moves I had never seen before. I tried for 10 minutes to follow, she kept saying just do basic moves.. Well, I follow the instructor and when she is whizzing around like an energizer bunny on crack, adding in hops, kicks and turns, I am lost.
I felt so embarassed and angry. Not only did I look like an idiot because I could not figure out how to follow along doing something at least similar, I also walked out of the class. I have never walked out of a class but I was just upset enough that I did. Of course, it didn't help that I was up in the front of the class either. I probably would have stuck it out if I had been further back in the class and if she had not kept making directional changes that had the entire class facing me.
I won't be taking her class again, I will stick to the instructors who do keep it down on the lower level for those of us who are uncoordinated and still learning. I guess I am going to head back into the Intro class so they can show me what the heck she was doing, she was saying they were basic steps but they sure were not any basic steps that I had been taught by another instructor.
